Piper · Original Artwork

"Piper" is a painting on olive tree wood I made with ink, watercolor, gouache, acrylics and pencils.

Its´ background painting on hard cardboard is made with pencils, acrylics and fineliner.

The wooden part of the artwork is mounted on the cardboard background with a special tape.

I could have put a small screw through the cardboard and wood to attach the piece of wood even more securely to the hard cardboard background, but I wanted to leave that up to the future owner of this piece if they wanted to drill a small hole into the artwork.

The artwork comes framed. The wooden frame with a glass-front is especially chosen for this artwork and spray-painted with a copper colored spray-paint.

Working with olive tree wood as a painting ground is especially nice, as it comes with such a beautiful wood grain.

I paint shapes and faces that I see in the lines of the wood. I make hidden creatures visible as they aren´t visible to everyone. It depends on how much imagination you have to see those shapes and creatures. It´s a bit like cloud reading and treasure hunting.

Some parts of the wood I leave completely uncovered to give the artwork this characteristic natural and 3d feel.
